Stress Detection for Glass Products

Stress Detection for Glass Products

The glass polarimeter is named after the application of polarized light interference principle to check the internal stress of glass. It is specially used for quality control of glass bottles by detecting the stress index, such as ampoules, vials, infusion bottles, wine bottles, cans, cosmetic bottles and other glass containers.

The stress of the glass directly affects the strength of the glass. The thermal explosion of glass is caused by excessive thermal stress, the impact rupture of glass is caused by the excessive mechanical stress generated by the mechanical impact or impact force of the glass, the self-explosion of glass is caused by excessive internal stress of the glass. In addition, the increase in the strength of the glass due to thermal or chemical tempering is caused by the increase in the surface compressive stress of the glass. Therefore, the stress and strength of glass are inextricably linked.

Most of the stress that can be detected by the polarimeter is the thermal stress. And the thermal stress is caused by temperature gradients. According to glass is an amorphous product that is melted at high temperature and solidified by rapid cooling, the temperature changes of various parts of the glass plate surface cannot be uniform, and the thermal stress will occur during the production process. Because of this, glass bottles go through the annealing process, but there will still be residue.

With the help of the glass polarimeter of Suzhou PTC Optical Instrument Co., Ltd., it is possible to determine whether the residual stress of the glass bottle meets the relevant standards.

1. Tools: glass stress detector.

2. Operation steps

(1) Turn on the power, turn on the switch, and the light will be on.

(2) Place the glass to be tested between the analyzer and the polarizer of the instrument.

(3) The examiner looks down from the top of the analyzer, and can observe the stress in the lens circle around the lens.

(4) According to the observed stress situation, determine whether the stress around the lens is uniform or the parts that need to be corrected.
