Some people concern that the glass panels of household appliances will be fragile during heating or at low temperatures. In fact, we can rest assure that they are safe to use. Because household appliance glass is made of tempered glass, and its strength and impact resistance are higher than that of ordinary glass. As long as we don't hit the corners with sharp objects, it has a very low possibility to break automatically. In the below ,several core features of household applianc glass panel are illustrated.


1. Aesthetics: The glass surface is bright in color, and the color and pattern  can be customized according to the design needs;

2. Strong bonding force between glaze and glass

3. Safety: The glass forms small pieces when it is broken, which greatly improves the safety.

4. Bending strength and tensile strength:  4-5 times that of non-tempered glass.

5. Acid resistance and alkali resistance: the acid resistance is above grade 5, and the mass loss of alkali resistance samples does not exceed 0.0028g/c㎡.

In terms of production process, household appliance glass is made by cutting ordinary annealed glass to the size, heating it to a temperature close to the softening point, and then performing rapid and uniform cooling. Usually 5-6mm glass is heated for about 240s at a high temperature of 700 degrees, and the temperature is cooled for about 150s. 8-10mm glass is heated for about 500s at a high temperature of 700 degrees, and the temperature is cooled for about 300s. Briefly, depending on the thickness of the glass, the heating and cooling time is also different. After tempering, uniform compressive stress is formed on the surface of the glass, and tensile stress is formed inside, which improves the bending and impact strength of the glass. Its strength is about four times that of ordinary annealed glass. The tempered glass that has been tempered will be broken into small particles if it is subjected to a force exceeding its breaking strength. So it is a kind of safety glass.


How to identify whether the appliance glass is tempered glass or not ? The unique stress characteristics of tempered glass have become an important sign to distinguish which the glass is tempered. Under polarizing light of a glass Polarimeter, colored interference fringes can be seen inside the tempered glass. :
